UC research makes an impact on our community.
From making our lakes and wetlands cleaner and healthier ecosystems for people to enjoy, to helping children engage with science, technology, engineering and mathematics at home as well as in the classroom, UC’s research plays an active role in shaping ÃØÃÜÖ±²¥, our region and its people.
The University of ÃØÃÜÖ±²¥â€™s Research Festival 2024 was held between 31 October and 28 November at locations around the region and on our beautiful Bruce campus. The focus of the Festival was to share the impact of UC research on people and place.
Research Festival 2024 saw the launch of the Life of a CBRn installation: a visual timeline outlining examples of our research that has impacted ÃØÃÜÖ±²¥ns across their lifetime. Explore the research through the digital experience at or on our impact library.

Research Festival 2024 included over 20 events and activities held around ÃØÃÜÖ±²¥ and on campus across the month of November.
Leading and up-and-coming UC researchers and experts from the AIS Female Performance & Health initiative shared their work and findings surrounding women in sport research, highlighting the value of investing in this area of research.

Over 500 Ginninderry residents and ÃØÃÜÖ±²¥ locals flocked to Paddys Park to get hands-on with a range of research-backed community and environmental initiatives undertaken by UC in Ginninderry, including frogging talks, a kite festival, and play-based education activities.

Cities Need Artists Need Cities was an 'in conversation' on the practical challenges of ÃØÃÜÖ±²¥ as a site for practising artists with Alison Alder, Ketura Budd, Hannah de Feyter, and Kevin Miller. The discussion explored whether it is possible to sustain an art practice in ÃØÃÜÖ±²¥ and what could and should be done to make living and working as an artist in ÃØÃÜÖ±²¥ more viable.

The University of ÃØÃÜÖ±²¥ is committed to advancing mental health harm prevention for young people in the ÃØÃÜÖ±²¥ region and beyond. This showcase focused on addressing the unique mental health challenges faced by young individuals, using evidence-based strategies alongside community collaboration. Key components included research, technology and innovation; community engagement; education and awareness; and policy and advocacy.

This full-day event included lectures, presentations, performances and conversations from academic experts addressing the boredom and loneliness associated with social media platforms, while exploring possible ways to escape the grip of doom scrolling through art, media activism and more. Hosted in collaboration by UC's Centre for Creative and Cultural Research, Centre for Deliberative Democracy and Global Governance, and News and Media Research Centre with the Institute of Network Cultures (Amsterdam).
