If you’re a Year 12 student and have performed well in subjects that are relevant to any of your course preferences at UC, you may be awarded subject adjustment factors.
Adjustment factors can help you receive an offer for one or more of your course preferences at UC, even if your ATAR doesn’t meet the minimum requirements for those courses. They work by awarding extra points to your selection rank, giving you a higher entry score for certain courses.

If you’ve applied for a UC course through the , you don’t need to submit a separate application for subject adjustment factors. If you’ve achieved the required results in the relevant subjects, up to 10 adjustment factors are automatically added to your ATAR to give you a more competitive selection rank for relevant UAC course preferences.
Subject adjustment points are awarded automatically if you’re completing an Australian Year 12 or the International Baccalaureate (IB) in Australia in the current year. If you’re a current Year 12 student from outside the ACT and NSW, you can still be awarded subject adjustment factors – check the UAC list of for other states.
You can find out what subjects provide adjustment factors for your chosen UC courses in our subject adjustment factor guide.
