Why exercise?

In 2018, the Clinical Oncology Society of Australia (COSA) released a position statement stating that “exercise should be embedded as part of standard practice in cancer care and to be viewed as an adjunct therapy that helps counteract the adverse effects of cancer and its treatment.” This recommendation has evolved from countless studies demonstrating that sedentary behaviour such as sitting and lying should be limited and that regular exercise is safe and effective as pre-rehabilitation throughout active treatment (chemotherapy, radiation and immunotherapy) and to enhance recovery following treatment.
